Decline of Old Empire & Civilisation had a common cause. As the prosperity of the Empire increased.they depended mainly on Slave labour & looted wealth of conquered country, but themselves became too lazy, luxury minded, alcoholic& drug addicted and using women as a commodity of luxury. They wanted others to fight for them telling they are in their back as supporter/Gradually the slaves took over their power & women too. This is the history of Roman,Greecian,Egyptian,Chinees etc empire>People of India had a additional vice of Laziness having a fertile land & moderate climate & lot of resources locally, hardly looked to outside world what was happening there-so they lost to Western technology of invader, sometime betraying their country to them> JRB
