Why abortion should be illegal

Abortion to everyone no matter where we come from, or what religion we are seems to be a touchy subject, whether it’s right or wrong, or when it is right, and when is it wrong. Many believe someone being against abortion is a religious thing, we don’t have to be any certain religion to have morals, being religious doesn’t give us morals, it’s the way we are raised that makes us who we are. Through our upbringing we are able to make choices for ourselves to believe what is right and wrong, and religion doesn’t have to come into play. Abortion’s wrong it’s plain and simple, it’s the killing of an innocent baby. We have been brought up to know that killing someone is wrong, people go to jail for their entire lives’ for killing someone who was innocent. So what is the difference between killing a fetus, and killing a human being, a fetus is going to developed to be a human being, there isn’t much difference. Many people try to argue that it isn’t actual a human until a certain number of weeks, but the truth is a baby’s heart starts beating 18 days after conception, that is less than three weeks, not many women even know they are pregnant until much later, so in my eyes that baby is alive as soon as it’s heart is beating. Abortion isn’t right no matter what, I know some people like to say that it’s okay if the women was raped, because it will remind her of what happen, if that’s the case than there is adoption, and what the women needs to know is that though this horrible thing may of happen to her. A family who cannot conceive is going to get the biggest miracle in the world out of it. A baby is the world’s biggest blessing, without children there will be no future. It may be the hardest thing someone ever has to do in keeping their child but it’s the right thing to do. So many women I believe our pressured in to abortion by society, and what others will think of them. You are expected to finish school, and be the best you can be and many believe they cannot do that with a child, and also, I believe our generation is weak, and they are selfish, and a child would ruin their life. But what they are not thinking about is the child they are carrying, they are not thinking about the life this child could have, or who this child could grow up to be they are putting a stop to its life before it even started. What they aren’t looking at is what if this was their parent, what if they decided to have an abortion when pregnant with them then they would of not been given the chance at life either. Life is beautiful, it’s a battle sometimes, but the joys of the heartaches always cancel out the pain. Being a mother when you are not ready won’t be easy but you are giving that baby a chance at life, the same chance we were given when our parents decided to have us. I from personally experience understand why some women choose to have an abortion, a lot of the deciding factor has to do with the father, and a women may be kin on keeping her child, but they have this strong powerful influence who is there pressuring them. I had it happen to me, I was pregnant with my boyfriend of two years, and he tried to convince me to get an abortion, it was all about our future, and that we had to do it for our future children so we could give them a good life and we could finish school and enjoy our lives first. But deep down I knew I couldn’t do that I couldn’t murder my baby, and I didn’t. I sadly, had a miscarriage 15 weeks into my pregnancy, but it was the best decision ever deciding not to go through with an abortion. Abortion is saying its okay to kill an innocent person and get away with murder. Everyone has different reasons why they may believe abortion to be wrong, and everyone is entitled to have their own view on the subject. But deep down we should all know that as much as we hate to believe because so many of us have done it, and have thought about doing it that it is wrong. No matter the circumstances abortion should be made illegal. Every child conceived should be given the opportunity to contribute to the future of this world; no one should be able to make that choice for them they have the right to belong here just as much as everyone else does.

Ok. So what I'm hearing is that you want to take away women's right to make their own decision. If I'm wrong then please, enlighten me. My belief is that life begins when the baby takes its first breath of air despite the fact that they have never taken a breath before. That they're able to instinctively know the procedure to breathe in and out is a miracle of life itself. Although you're right with the fact that the fetus will grow into a human being, it is not a human being. A fetus is a growing cluster of stem cells that, as time goes on, will develop appendages and organs. The beating heart is an indicator of growth and health. It beats so that it can carry the nutrients received from the umbilical cord to the new appendages so that it can continue to grow. A living human being is someone who breathes and thinks. Even if the thoughts are as primal as a newborn baby's. I respect your opinion and it carries a lot of weight. But we shouldn't take away women's right to abortion because they might get one for selfish reasons. I watched my mother carry all three of my siblings (me being the oldest) and I can confidently say that every single time she was excited at the thought of a new mouth to feed and knowing that she created that child. That is why I believe that most pregnant women wouldn't choose abortion anyway. The prospect of new life is much too exciting. But if a woman has three children and can barely support them plus herself, and she finds out that she's pregnant with another child, should she be forced to carry that child and bring it into a world of hunger and poverty? No. It's better to keep abortion legal and allow women to make their own decisions about childbirth.

You talk about choice. As far as I am concerned, apart from rape, the woman made the CHOICE when she consented to have sex & subsequently spread her legs. For, by choosing to have sex, she knowingly accepted the risks involved in having sex. One of those risks, as she had to have known, is getting pregnant. Ergo, by her knowingly accepting those risks, she should, by all that is moral & just, be obligated to bear the consequences of taking those risks.
I am a man and, if I had sex with a woman & got her pregnant, I am willing to bear the consequences of the woman I had sex with getting pregnant & do my part in supporting the child. Shouldn't the same be expected of the woman? We're all equal, aren't we?

If we truly are equal, then who are we to tell women whether they can or cannot get an abortion. I realize that I din't include my entire view above. I believe that terminating a fetus that is only several weeks old should be legal. But if the fetus is several months old meaning the woman willingly carried it for that amount of time, that should absolutely be illegal. And if a woman makes the choice to have sex, the male should be responsible to wear a condom. But if the male is wearing a condom and it breaks during sex, then I think the woman is entitled to abortion as soon possible meaning no late-term abortions. I, too, am a male and if I had sex with a woman and got her pregnant, I would also support the child. But if the woman refuses to carry the child and wants to receive an abortion, then I would not try to convince her otherwise. She is, after all, the one who must carry it for several months and then endure the pain of childbirth.

Hate to break it to you, but you're a cluster of stem cells.

The child requires oxygen from day 1, but only needs to breathe after birth, after the umbilical cord is cut. And the child has primal thoughts as soon as 24 weeks, as soon as the first neurons start firing in the brain.

Thousands upon thousands of singles and couples across the country want to adopt, a large majority of which have the necessary resources to care for a child.

The woman has every right to choose not to have sex. Once she makes that choice she has to deal with whatever consequences come up be that HIV/Aids, venerial disease, or pregnancy. I am not comparing pregnancy to VD, it just results from similar acts. The point is that if someone buys a pair of pants, then decides they don't want it, they can simply take it back, and the problem with abortion is that too many women treat it like a department store transaction. Looking at many different studies, no one said that more than 5% of abortions were because of rape or danger to the mother. A vast majority happen because the mother doesn't feel ready, or wants to focus on her career.

Here's a though. In the 30 years following Roe v. Wade there were over 53,000,000 abortions. Lets factor out the 5% of legitimate abortions leaving us with 50,350,000 abortions. The fertility rate to sustain a society must be 2.1 births per woman. With the massive immigration from Asia and Latin America, the USA is barely at 2.1BPW(about 1.6 on our own). If you were to factor those children that should've been born into our workforce, not only does our fertility rate skyrocket, but so would our economy. So not only are we killing our children, but we are killing our country.

Abortion is an awful thing. But sometimes, it is the best option. Not a good option, but the best option. There are scenarios where one shouldn't get an abortion. For example:

When one purposely gets pregnant, then decides that they don't want a kid anymore.
When one gets pregnant and wants to get an abortion so they don't have to deal with pregnancy.
When one is pregnant, has the time and resources and desire to take care of the child, and is perfectly willing to deal with the child after it is born, whether they will keep it or put it up for adoption, granted they will continue to look after the child until they are claimed by a family if they are put up for adoption.

However, sometimes, there are perfectly acceptable reasons to get an abortion:

If one is pregnant and it is not by their choice or desire, and they can not economically, emotionally or psychologically handle the pregnancy, caring for the child, or the price of adoption.
If the pregnancy presents serious medical risks to the mother and/or the child.
If the mother needs support from family and friends (they are not capable of being a parent or going through the process of pregnancy and adoption) and there is no support and/or opposition from the family and friends.
Convenience is not a reason to get an abortion. If that is the only reason, then you need to suck it up and realize that there is a living child inside of you.

For some people, there is no better option. I do believe life begins at conception. However, that does not make me re-think my position. Scientifically, by definition. life begins at conception. However, a fetus that is not born is not conscious of our complex life. It is not developed. Yes, it is experiencing life. But it is not experiencing the life we know. People say that abortion takes away a child's life and opportunity however, the child never knew that life and opportunity even are concepts that exist, so they can't miss something they never had.

Oh and FYI:

stem cell n.
An unspecialized cell that gives rise to a specific specialized cell, such as a blood cell.

Therefore, I am NOT a cluster of stem cells. I am a mass of at least 210 different cells to form what we define as a human body.

You started out as a mass of stem cells that differentiated and that it takes many many days for you to become you. The potential you is there yes, like a seed that could be a great oak tree. However, during those days your mom is faced with a myriad of options and choices for herself and you wouldn't want to take away her choices. The good Lord gave man and woman freedom to choose be it good or evil and it is not for the puny man to dictate what choice a woman has to make. Before abortion is legalized a lot of women lost their lives because they have unintended pregnancies and they have to resort to doing it (aborting) themselves. Unsanitary, and unsafe methods. I believe we should not ban abortion but to give moms who are faced with this choices more good choices. Maybe instead of wasting our energy and effort on banning abortions, let us start supporting good choices.

I agree.

But it's just not that simple. In theory, you are correct. But all women who become pregnant are simply not prepared in any way, shape or form, and often there is not one stable person in her life willing to help her raise the child. No father, her family isn't there or won't be supportive, no friends willing to help. No job, no skills, no money, no safe place to live with the baby.

What kind of life is that for a baby?

Some women may just make horrible parents too. Especially if they truly do not want the child.

And giving your newborn away for adoption. It would be easier to throw my body under a speeding train than it would to give my baby up for adoption. I'd lose my mind. I would never give my baby away. I would literally go insane and couldn't live with that.

Adoption is not an automatic answer. Most women cannot do it without having a nervous breakdown afterward.
