Two questions:
Please can anybody tell me the year the statue of a BSAC lion was removed from the plinth at junction of Main street/Selborne Avenue, and replaced with a Gardner gun.
Second question: I know the marble tablets on the walls of the memorial cloisters next to the post office in Main Street stated off with Europeans killed during the Matabele War of 1893/94 and assume that to these were added names of whites killed during the Rebellion of 1896/97, but was it the names of the whites killed on service, or were the 'civilians' who were murdered also included.
Finally, to the cloisters tablets were the names of the dead from first and seconf world wars added, and what is the present condition of the memorial.
