My question is, was Ovaltine ever used as a laxative? My fiance is telling me that is what it is used for, but I don't agree. I told him it was a breakfast/ nutritional drink. Please let me know the answer.

Ovaltine is a nutricious choco-malt drink made with milk and the Ovaltine powder which desolves nicely.
In 1948 when as a kid my siblings and I listened to "Captain Midnight" and the Ovaltine was advertised to children and we had our share along with the premium prizes that came with the Ovaltine.
This was a marketing tool of the times.
I do not think that my mother would have readily given several of her children a laxative during those days!
