In what ways was the colonial experience of Europeans (English, Spanish, French) in North America affected by religious and political conflict back in Europe? What effects did class and labor status play on the colonial experience. Did the contact with Native Americans affect the colonists? Is there only one colonial experience?

The Europeans in North America were not that affected by religious or political conflict in Europe. Ideas did affect them, though. Basically in colonial times as a slave you equal an animal. Your life would probabally be pretty bad. Poor whites did no better or those who worked as apprentices or indentured servants at that time. However, if you were of the upper class, you could have a life of luxury equal to the wealthiest Europeans, There was no difference really between the colonists and English, except that the colonists tended to be more free thinkers and used to a harsher life. Contact with Native Americans greatly affected the colonists. Due to conmstant conflict between the white men and the Natives, the Idians were oftened called "savages" and widely hated and feared. The Indians returned the hate. Really, neither of the sides were fair, but the Colonists especially. It was the Indians land in the first place. The English stole thier land, so the Indians went on raids and masacares, and the English did the same. There are so many different colonial experiences, some good, and some.... well, not so good.
Hope this helps.
