I own a 1996 Carina E, 200,000 km but still ok.The green courtesy light, normally on for a few seconds to enlight the ignition key hole..was ALWAYS ON! (even with closed doors)The day after I opened my garage to test the battery, fearing it was gone... all ok.I took off the plastic case between the steering wheel and the dash and eliminated the lamp because:
- the local Toyota service has now "biblical
times" to give a peep;
- 2 electrical shops have taken their time
only.
I looked in the web for the electric wiring diagram, to find out what drives this lamp (timer, relay, electronic circuit?)and possibly buy or find a spare but found nothing.
I kindly ask your help to know:
- what is the defective part and where is
located in the car?
- is it worth while replacing the defective
part or not?
It is a little problem but it's a pity not to solve it.Many thanks Bruno, Ferrara,Italy
