I just watched the 1999 version of Onegin and loved it, but I don't understand how it ended. I read the ending of Pushkin's poem and it didn't help. Was he going to continue to pursue Tatyana, even though she said no, as he was walking once again towards the palace. I will have to read the entire work now. The movie does allow you to see the callousness of Onegin and how the dual changed him. Did he really mean to kill him, even after Onegin knew he was at fault? What a sad tale all around for all the characters, but it is very compelling! This is the first time I have heard of Pushkin, but it reminds me of a sort of Pride and Prejudice with a bad ending... Well, hopefully someone can help me solve the mistery of the ending!
