Listerine

I have very wiered question to ask. Ihave a dog that has developed a hot spot. Leeking & chooing his reer foot.
He has developed a soar.Somebody has told me that she had a same condition with her dog & she has used a Listerine (mouth wash) on the soar. Could she been telling the truth??? Idont want to hurth my dog,but we hav tried everyting & nothing is working. He is still leeking & hurting himself.
Anybody has any answer?????
