I have a pair of Zebra finches. They have babies in the nest and are doing very well at parenting. Our concern is - just today the male is plucking the females feathers and using it for nesting. They still have extra nesting in the cage but yet he is doing this. Should I be worried? Is he hurting her? And is it normal?

Not at all. This is natural as he prefers to use down to line the nest rather than supplied nesting material. try stuufing some material around the chicks. (he may be stubborn and remove as I have experienced as a past breeder)
