solar energy enters the system -> plants -> animals

Plants release (heat)energy to the nature in respiration. Animals release energy to the nature in movement, respiration, excretion, breathing.

Actually, energy flow is a open system which energy is lost. However, solar energy enters the system continuously and thus can maintain the cycle.
