The British General Sir William Howe liked to take long rides on his horse with his troops. This gave the American Colonists enough time to set up an ambush at Saratoga. When the British arrived, the colonists surrounded them and the two fought for a while. Soon, the British surrendered.

The Battle of Yorktown was one of the final battles of the war. Under the control of British General Cornwallis, an importing location was on a penninsula. The Americans, once again, used this as an advantage. The General and his troops awaited supply ships from Britian. By this time, the French, Spanish, and some Germans had sided with the Colonists. The French ships blocked off British imports of supplies to the troops and Cornwallis. Then, the Americans, on foot, blocked off the only way out of the penninsula. Since the British were on a penninsula, they were surrounded by three bodies of water and only one path out on land. The British decided to fight back for a while, although they would run out of supplies and not get more because they were blocked off. If the British were to keep fighting, the would be massacred, therefore they surrendered. Therefore the Americans had won.

I hope this helped!
