Hi
does anybody check this forum still ?
I have a small question about the 1553 bus. I have been asked to write a subsystem to take a piece of information from a 1553 message, I cannot change the other parts of the 1553 architecture (i.e. the BC or the RTs) so cannot simply use an RT as the message address is already defined to a specific RT.
I was hoping to use a bus monitor to filter the sepcific message and then extract the informtaion I need from it.
From the documentation I've read it looks as though this is frowned upon possibly even prohibited (can't see how this could be done).
Is there anybody out there who could offer me some advice ?
I'll buy you a pint :o)
cheers

You can use a Bus Monitor to get the information. There is nothing in the 1553 specification that prevents you from adding a passive BM terminal to an existing network.
