Hi,
I'm possibly in entirely the wrong place but need help from someone who may have an answer.
I'm in Australia and trying to trace a man named Charles Bate who was born in Bromsgrove in 1825 to Thomas and Sarah Bate. At 16 he is in the 1841 Census as an apprentice draper- an unusual clue. I'm wondering if there is any way I could trace where he may have been an apprentice and of course anything I can find out about his family. Apparently Thomas is listed as a farmer. Charles had moved to London by 1851 to Shoolbred's Drapery in Tottenham Court Rd and then he came to Australia.
Anything you can do to help me find out about this man would be appreciated even if it is only an address(email) to contact a local family history group
