Hi,
I would like to find out what would be the equivalent of sigma in a gaussian distribution for a lorentzian function.

Would it just be right to take the half width at half maxima as an equivalent of the sigma of the gaussian? While fitting the gaussian and lorentzian to a distribution of particles on surface, I find that the sigma of the gaussian is close to the half width at half maxima I get for the lorentzian. I wish to find out if they are equivalent in some way?
