Black Swan

Hi,

I take care of a black swan at work. I noticed her beak is getting overgrown and she cant shut her mouth right. Can I get that trimmed so she can be more comfortable and is this normal? Swans eat soft grasses so I wouldnt think there would be any reason for their beaks to grow and I dont know how they would trim them naturally. Could it be a nutritional deficency? Is there anyway to prevent this from happening again? We have three mute swans that have never had this problem. This is our only black swan.

Thanks

You should consult a veterinary professional. Surely there is a surgical procedure that could help your swan. In any case you want to know exactly what's going on.
