I WONDER IF YOU HAVE GOT ANY FURTHER IN SEARCHING FOR THE NAMES OF PLATOON CO,s WHO LANDED ON UTAH BEACH???
I HAVE A FIXED BALE U.S. M1 STEEL HELMET WITH PAPERWORK THAT CLAIMS A LT OR CAPT [NOT SURE OF HIS RANK ON D-DAY]JOHN L WEST JR WORE IT ON D-DAY AT UTAH BEACH.HE WAS PART OF THE 8th REGIMENTAL COMBAT TEAM, 4th INFANTRY DIVISION.
IT IS BOTH PAINTED UP TO THE 4th INF AND 8 RCT.
CAN ANYONE SHED ANY LIGHT ON THIS PARTICULAR OFFICER, NO MATTER OR SMALL.
