Does a Kestrel need a head wind to hover? I've been trying to find out if a Kestrel can truly hover with zero wind.
I read that in the strictest aerodynamic sense ,a kestrel cannot beat its wings fast enough, and does not have the strength to truly hover, unlike a humingbird or drgonfly for instance.
Would it be correct to say that when a kestrel needs to hunt in zero wind it will perch on poles or trees to gain a vantage point.
