Ideally, a Kuan Yin devotee would be a vegetarian. But Kuan Yin will help anyone who calls on her.

The official Buddhist position on meat is that you can eat it if it was not specifically killed for you personally. You can't directly cause any sentient living thing to be killed. in other words, you can buy hamburger at the supermarket, but pointing out the live lobster in the tank that you wish them to kill is forbidden. The Buddha himself ate meat -- in fact, legend has it that he died from eating bad meat.
