As per Medical Science, meditation is an exercise for stress management apart from its religious requirements. Further as per yoga science, many exercises cannot be undertaken by different type of patients i.e. some exercises cannot be undertaken by heart patients, some exercises cannot be undertaken by sugar patients and other cannot be undertaken by lever patients and so on. Similarly meditation cannot be under taken by OCD patients, by-polar disorder patients or patients suffering from any mental disease as per doctors' specific views.
In view of the fact that RADHA SOAMI GURUs/MASTERs claim it to be masters of 'SCIENCE OF SOUL', have they raised any alarm, through media or through e-mail or by post, for OCD/BY-POLAR DISTRESS or mental patients for not undertaking meditation at all? There is a need to keep a data for all such patient followers with full details.

I haven't heard of meditation side effects in case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Bi polar disorder patients.
Meditation is a legitimate and natural form of relaxing the mind and body. It is a discipline of focused breath and slowing thoughts down. That makes meditation for OCD and bi polar sufferers an appealing discipline to explore. While many are put off by anything categorized as alternative healing, it can be a helpful tool to achieve useful states of mind for those dealing with these disorders and anxiety. And if there is one thing a racing mind or anxious body can use is extra relaxation.

Have a look over these credible sources for further information:-

On visiting the web sites, following cautions, about TM and other forms of meditations, do confirm my contention:-
1. meditation can cause or worsen symptoms in people with certain psychiatric conditions or produce feelings of disorientation and anxiety. If you have an existing mental condition, consult your doctor before starting TM. Also inform your meditation instructor about your condition.
2. meditation should not be used as a replacement for conventional medical care or as a reason to avoid seeing a doctor about a medical problem.

In view of above cautions, the views of US doctors about impact of meditation cannot be turned down and require steps to be taken by cautioning all SATSANGIs about impact of meditation on OCD/Bi-polar dis-order and other mental diseases.

The following is an official statement from the US government-run National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine:

"Meditation is considered to be safe for healthy people. There have been rare reports that meditation could cause or worsen symptoms in people who have certain psychiatric problems, but this question has not been fully researched. People with physical limitations may not be able to participate in certain meditative practices involving physical movement. Individuals with existing mental or physical health conditions should speak with their health care providers prior to starting a meditative practice and make their meditation instructor aware of their condition.
According to the NIH, meditation should not be used as a replacement for conventional health care or as a reason to postpone seeing a doctor"

The reports that have been taken are unconfirmed and this issue that not been researched. I wouldn't believe this unless passed and recommended by a team of psychiatric experts and doctors. In fact many of doctors i know emphasize on meditation to empty out thoughts which is the first basic step towards treating these disorders.
And of course meditation alone cannot be used to cure disease. It is recommended as compliment to medication and other treatments.

I have not seen a single case in my life who has suffered from meditation. If you have confirmed sources, real life experiences to validate what you say, please let me now.
