Organizational background

Birthright Armenia was established in 2003, as an international nonprofit organization. Their goals include strengthening ties between Armenia and Diasporan youth representatives by providing them an opportunity take part in the daily life of fellow Armenians.

The organization's only requirements are that applicants be of Armenian descent, between the ages of 20–32, and agree to a minimum two-month stay. As of 2011, over 585 individuals from more than 25 countries participated in the Birthright Armenia program.
