Aleksander Glondys

Aleksander Glondys is a Polish jazz and rock percussionist, the leader of the Al'Mad and later Aleksander Glondys's quartet music band as well as a renowned translator, considered - after the "Encyclopaedia of jazz" the best Polish translator in the area of jazz.
His latest activity concerns creation of the Fascynacje, a unique internet portal regarding cultural affairs with very special system of setting up the content enabling to follow the circulation of ideas and inspirations between artists of various activities and eras.

Aleksander Glondys started his musical career around 1969 in the Dynastie group ( later Genesis ) playing among others with his brother Krzysztof and Roman Nehrebecki who served as basis for one of the two main protagonists of the Bolek i Lolek cartoon.

In 1979 he was one of the creators of Kwartet Jacka Kasza ( later Suport ). Both bands have received rewards in the festivals Jazz Juniors in Cracow and Jazz nad Odrą in Wrocław, in 1979 and 1980 respectively.
Since mid 80s he started combining activities of a musician and a translator, thus limiting his concerts almost exclusively to Cracow.
In 1993 he started the band Al'Mad, considered one of the "best Polish hardbop formations", with Adam Kawończyk, Marek Piątek and Marian Pawlik. It`s continuation is the Aleksander Glondys's quartet where some of the best Polish jazz musicians have performed, including such names as Leszek Szczerba and Janusz Witko.
At the end of 90's he launched a project known as "Ellington po krakowsku" ("Ellington Cracow way"), a concert of an orchestra of 25 people lead by some most notable composers of Piwnica pod Baranami

Aleksander Glondys has been working with various publishing houses such as Amber, Książnica or Rebis. He is considered as the top specialist in the area of translations of the jazz literature. His works as translator include among others "Duke Ellington", "Encyclopaedia of Jazz" by Guiness and "Jazz for CD".

He`s gained some recognition as a teacher thanks to self-developed way of teaching English, based on the generative grammar

His latest activity includes the Fascynacje, a cultural portal that has no counterpart around the globe and relies among other things on unique system of search that enables not only to find artists or the very information, but also follow the flow of ideas between artists of various activities and eras.
