Upon his death in 1664, he will his books and manuscripts to his sons, Diarmaid and Sean. In 1817, John or Sean O'Cleary (one of six sons of Patrick, son of Cosnahach (1693-1759), son of Cairbre, son of Diarmaid, son of Cú Choigcríche), moved to Dublin. He brought with him manuscripts of Leabhar Gabhala, the O'Clery Book of Genealogies, the Life of Hugh Roe O'Donnell and the [topographical] poems of Seán Mór Ó Dubhagáin
