Matthews stated in his June 4, 2010 show at Saratoga Performing Arts Center that he wrote this song "Up Here". Oddly though, towards the album's release date, the song was changed and a previously recorded string section on the song was replaced by a drum track recorded by Carter Beauford. Evidence of this is on the early release version of Big Whiskey that was given out to fans and radio stations for listening parties. It hit radio stations on August 24, 2009.
