Synopsis

Todd Ettinger, a yuppie, discusses buying a new car over lunch with a friend when a woman strides by. They check her out and as they do, a man overhears their conversation. When Todd accidentally runs into her at the cash register, the man comes from behind and throws some "magical dust" over him and they both look at each other with love in their eyes. However, Todd ignores his feelings and goes back to work. The man, who it turns out is Cupid, is furious that Todd just ignored Cupid's arrow and follows him back to his office. He immediately questions Todd about why he ignored hooking up with the woman at lunch. Todd gets upset and tries to throw Cupid out of his office, when Cupid shoots three arrows into Todd's heart. When Todd asks why he did that, Cupid laughs and says hopefully I just screwed up your life. He then leaves Todd with a very curious look on his face.

After work, Todd sees the woman again, but this time chases her. He loses her but realizes he really wants to be with her again. That night in bed, Todd questions what's happening to him. He is punished by a curse of desperate love for the woman in question. The next day, he tries to track down Bacchus
Dionysus
Dionysus was the god of the grape harvest, winemaking and wine, of ritual madness and ecstasy in Greek mythology. His name in Linear B tablets shows he was worshipped from c. 1500—1100 BC by Mycenean Greeks: other traces of Dionysian-type cult have been found in ancient Minoan Crete...

Megaera
Megaera is one of the Erinyes, Eumenides or "Furies" in Greek mythology. Lamprière's Classical Dictionary states "According to the most received opinions, they were three in number, Tisiphone, Megara [sic] and Alecto" and "Megaera .....

. Faced with years of suffering, Todd begins to formulate a plan to get Cupid and Megaera back together, hoping then Cupid will help him.

Bacchus gives him an incantation which will force Megaera to appear to him. She does appear and begins ranting about how she would never get back with Cupid because of his diddlings with mortals. After she blows up and blows out, Todd calls Bacchus and arranges another meeting. Megaera and Cupid both show up at Todd's office and Todd uses some incantation to keep them from leaving. Cupid apologizes to her and admits he was wrong. Megaera accepts his apology and they seem to fall in love again. Todd leaves them alone in his office to make up. Later, he goes back in to find them gone and a note left saying they hitched a ride with the window washer. Cupid also said thank you for getting them back together. Todd, however, is upset that he is left with Cupid's curse. He decides to go buy the car he wanted so badly. After pulling off the lot, he is rear-ended...by the woman he was searching for. Soon, Cupid and Megaera drive by waving and smiling at Todd. Todd and the woman stand in the street, kissing...
