funds for the purpose of decreasing the above average statistics of tobacco use in Indiana.

History of WhiteLies.tv

The Indiana Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation Executive Board was created to oversee funding from Indiana’s share of the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement. The Board created a plan for the funds, which was set to include media components, special youth features, settlement enforcement, cessation initiatives and community programs.

The WhiteLies.tv brand was created as the main media outreach. WhiteLies.tv grew out of the need to educate and expose the tobacco industry's lies about the dangers of their products. In March 2002, advertising for the brand focused on the tobacco industry’s greed and the harmful effects of tobacco use on Hoosiers. The campaign was designed to educate consumers on the tobacco industry’s documented manipulative marketing tactics and the negative health consequences of tobacco use on Indiana.
The Whitelies.tv media campaign is present throughout Indiana and includes television, radio, outdoor billboards, and newspaper ads with public relations efforts continuously supporting the "Live. Without Tobacco." message. Further examples of advertising can be found on the ITPC website (WhiteLies.tv Advertisements). There are currently over 100 community partners across Indiana trained to use the Whitelies.tv brand to help extend and maximize the state’s campaign budget.
