 (ACHA) competing at the Division II level. The participating teams come from colleges and universities in the Upper Midwest, including Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

Each season, teams in the conference play two games against every other team that count towards the conference standings. The overall standings are used to seed the teams for the Conference Tournament, which is held each year in February to determine the Conference Champion.

History

The Western Collegiate Club Hockey Association was formed in March 2003 at the initial meeting of each of the original members at Coffman Memorial Union

 on the campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The five original members were: Michigan Technological University, Minnesota State University-Mankato, University of Minnesota-Duluth, University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and St. Cloud State University. Following three years of conference play with the original five member institutions, the 2006-2007 season saw a major change as the WCCHA welcomed the University of St. Thomas into the Conference, taking the place of the departing University of Minnesota-Duluth. In 2008-2009 season, the WCCHA welcomed the addition of St. Olaf College. In 2009-2010, the conference welcomed its seventh member, the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Finally, beginning in 2010-2011, the University of Minnesota-Duluth once again joins the league, bringing the total members to eight.
