and the School Board Chairman, Don Samuels, took part in the historic groundbreaking of the center. The center would eventually be named after Representative Walter C. Young.
It is also the home for two classrooms for students. The library is available to students from WCYMS to go there and use computers, do homework, and check out books.

History
In 1977, a committee appointed by the city of Pembroke Pines came up with the idea of a multi-use facility to accommodate the needs of the citizens of Pembroke Pines, the Broward County School System, and social service organizations. Governor Bob Graham's task force strongly promoted the idea that future schools should be constructed as multi-purposed such as the Walter C. Young Resource Center proposal. Representative Walter C. Young, a retired school principal himself, saw great potential in this concept. In fact, he became the cheerleader for the idea, pushing people to build such a facility. With matching $8.5 million in state funding to build it, he got an agreement signed by The City Of Pembroke Pines and The Broward County School Board.In April 1986, Representative
