Monsey
Grand Rabbi Mordechai Hager is the Vizhnitzer Rebbe in Monsey, NY. He is much loved and respected by his followers across the globe. His door is never closed to those who come to heed his advice or ask that he pray on their behalf. He is known for his devoutness and asceticism. His strict adherence to halacha and tradition has cost him some friends over the years, yet his steadfast leadership, and devotion to his followers, has gotten him a very loyal following. He has spared no one in his battles for piety, and for his view of halacha, over the years. His word is mighty, his rebuke devastating, and his opinions carry great weight, which some follow more reluctantly than others, especially now as he is the elder rebbe of a generation of rebbes who lived through the holocaust. He dislikes being photographed and shuns publicity spectacles. He is quite unceremonious and modest in public settings, however he is very charismatic in private. He was a student of the Pupa Rov, and considers himself a disciple of the late Rabbi
