Veuillez rendre l'âme is the second album of the French rock band Noir Désir
Noir Désir
Noir Désir was a French rock band from Bordeaux. They were active during the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, and have had two albums certified double platinum in France and three certified gold. They have been an influence on numerous French musicians including Cali, Louise Attaque and Miossec...

, released in 1989. This album realized by Ian Broudie, producer known for its very fastidious work, reveals the group in the general public thanks to the title Aux sombres héros de l'amer. Indeed, the rock criticism and the public greet unanimously the album (330 000 sold copies). The single Aux sombres héros de l'amer enters in the Top 50 (charts of the best sales of records in France) and offers to the group a fame which worries them, because this piece (Aux sombres héros de l'amer) is, according to them, not typical of the album and especially not understood. They thus assert on stage their musical line and develop loyalty of a more and more wide public.

Certain pieces, as Les écorchés or A l'arrière des taxis are regularly played during the following tours in new versions.
