Career
Shortly after his high school graduation in 1987, Verne moved with some friends to Arlington, Texas, where, in 1993, he got his first break into show business as a stunt double for a 9-month-old baby in the film Baby's Day Out (1994). Troyer is best known for his role as "Mini-Me" in the hit comedy Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002). He has also had roles in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
Celebrity Big Brother UK (2009)
Troyer appeared in the UK reality show Celebrity Big Brother. He was the 3rd person to enter the house on launch night, 2 January 2009, just one day after his 40th birthday. Troyer entered the house via a ramp after declaring that he "doesn't do stairs" and moves about the Big Brother House using a mobility scooter. He came 4th in the competition.
Personal life
Troyer was born in Sturgis, Michigan, the son of Susan, a factory worker, and Reuben Troyer, a repair technician. He has two siblings, Davon and Deborah. He grew up in Centreville, Michigan and graduated from high school in 1986. He worked at Taco Bell from the age of 16 until he was 21. Troyer and his long term girlfriend are expecting a child.
Troyer purportedly married model Genevieve Gallen on February 22, 2004 but filed for an annulment the next day. Though the couple's engagement was widely reported, Troyer and his attorney deny that the two ever had any formal wedding plans, saying that Gallen had fabricated the entire story for her own financial gain.
Sex Tape Scandal
On June 25 2008, a private home videotape of Troyer and his former live-in girlfriend Ranae Shrider having sex was leaked to the public by TMZ, which had been made during the Easter weekend of 2008 at Raffles L’Ermitage hotel. Kevin Blatt, the man responsible for brokering the deal for the Paris Hilton sex tape in 2003, attempted to sell the video. Troyer sued TMZ, Blatt, and online rental company SugarDVD for invasion of privacy and copyright infringement.
