VelLar has a history dating back to more than a thousand years and hosts many temples. This village is very old. It is existing from last 1200 years. There are evidences which shows that it was in existence at the time of ruler Prithiviraj Chouhan i.e. (1166-1192 AD). The name of the soldiers, who were from VELLAR village and died in the HALDI GHATI WAR, is available in the records of Mewar Rajputana History.

The temple of Jalerii Mataji i.e. goddess of water, is very famous in this area. If any unmarried girl comes into the range of this God any time, then it is necessary for that girl to come for the worship of Goddess Jaleri Mataji after birth of her first child. There is also one very old temple of Shivji which is called Navtirth and another old temple is of Devi Choudra Mataji. The village is named after the Goddess VARA MATAJI. There is very old Jain temple of Lord Adinath. This was built by Jain community before 1750-1800 AD. Currently, no Jain resides in the village.

There is only one school in the village up to 8 standard and after 8 students go to nearby village which is 3 km from Velar.

There are many castes in this village, like Suthars,Lohars,Rawals, Malis, Nais, Rabaris, Vaishnaws, Rajput, etc. Majority of the villagers are farmers and some have migrated to other ciites like Mumbai, Ahmedabad,Vadodara,Orissa etc.
