Varamin Carpet

  • Visibility : Varamin rugs and carpets have geometric patterns with repeated medallions, especially on runners. They are made by tribal people who either live in or pass by Varamin.
  • Size & Shapes : Varamin carpets and rugs come in different sizes, but the majority of them are mid-size (4 x 6 to 8 x 10 feet).
  • Color : Dark brown and dark red on khaki or dark blue backgrounds are the main colors used in Varamin rugs and carpets.
  • Texture: Soft wool; thin, tight pile.
  • Foundation : Warps and wefts are mostly cotton.
  • Knots : The village and workshop weavers mainly use the asymmetrical (Persian) knot, while the nomads, depending on their ethnicity, use either the asymmetrical or the symmetrical (Turkish) knot.
