, and is the only school of dentistry in Washington State. The school emphasizes research in anxiety, orofacial pain, tissue repair and regeneration, immune response to bacteria, and practice based research.

History

A part of the University of Washington, the University of Washington School of Dentistry was established in 1945. The school accepts 63 students annually and is known as one of the leading and most prestigious dental schools in the United States. Beyond its clinical training, the school distinguishes itself from its peers by its active involvement in community health (through student rotations and volunteer service) and a high level of research. It is consistently one of the top several schools receiving research funding from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, the dental branch of the National Institutes of Health.
