in 1987. He served as the CEO of the stock exchange in Jordan. He also served as the Jordan ambassador to the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg, and the European Union from 1996 to 2000.

He joined the Central Bank of Jordan in 1967. He was appointed Governor of the Central Bank for a five year term starting in 2001. He was reappointed for another term starting in 2006.

He is married to Lina Izziddine Mufti.
