Female squirrel's are the only mammals that lay eggs. This is why most generally they live in trees, and make nests. Just like birds they eat seeds known as acorns. The flying squirrel is most similiar to birds because they fly as well as the previous characteristics mentioned. Approximatley it takes a week or so for the eggs to hatch. Squirrels are born with no fur, due to the embryatic state in which they emerged from.
