The Trambesòs is a light rail
(tram
) system operated by TRAMMET
connecting Sant Adrià de Besòs
and Badalona
with the city of Barcelona
in Catalonia
. The original line, known as T4, opened on May 8, 2004 and runs from Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica
in Barcelona to the east of the city and extends roughly north-eastwards, reaching Sant Adrià de Besòs
. The second line, T5, opened on October 14, 2006 running from Glòries
to Gorg in Badalona
. The third line, T6, opened on 15 June 2008, connecting Sant Adrià RENFE station and Gorg. The yearly ridership of the Trambesòs lines combined is of 7.408.730 passengers as of 2008.
The Trambesòs is part of the Barcelona Tramvía system and complements the Trambaix
that runs to the south-west of the city. Both networks will be interconnected through Avinguda Diagonal in the next construction phase.

Tram's future
Since the modern trams open in 2004 was in mind of everybody the possibility to connect Trambaix and Trambesòs. In September 2008 Jordi Hereu, the Mayor of Barcelona, in a TV programme said that in a nearly future (2011–2012) both trams will be connect by the Diagonal AvenueAvinguda Diagonal, Barcelona
