, on February 10, 1854. He was the son of Pedro Zúñiga y Meléndez. He married Rosario Montúfar, the daughter of Lorenzo Montúfar, on November 7, 1875. He was Secretary of the Interior, police and promotions from April 30 to July 20, 1889.

After a time, he returned form exile, but had no further involvement in politics. He died in San José on June 24, 1918.
