Tirol (; , also Dorf Tirol; Latin Tyrolum; many of the region's Italian languages/dialects use Tirol) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 70 km north of the city of Trento and about 25 km northwest of the city of Bolzano (Bozen).
As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,361 and an area of 25.6 km².

As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,361 and an area of 25.6 km². According to the 2001 census, 97.69% of the population speak German, 2.13% Italian and 0.18% Ladin as first language.
The municipality of Tirol contains the frazione (subdivision) St. Peter (San Pietro).
Tirol borders the following municipalities: Kuens (Caines), Algund (Lagundo), Merano (Meran), Moos in Passeier (Moso in Passiria), Partschins (Parcines), Riffian (Rifiano), and Schenna (Scena).
The name of the historical region of Tyrol, stems from the Castle Tyrol, which is located in the village.
