Tilt is a topical sketch show, written in the week before broadcast, and recorded the night before. The first, six episode series was broadcast on BBC 7

It is written by a variety of sketch writers- some, like Carrie Quinlan
, are known writers and performers, who have worked on Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive
and other established comedy programmes; others are complete novices, who have submitted their work in answer to an invitation to new writers in the BBC writersroom.
On the British Comedy Guide
website, Tilt was voted as the "Worst British Radio Sketch Show of 2008". However, not enough votes were collected to definitively name as it the worst series, and there is some suspicion that that writers who failed to get their sketches on the show may have been voting against it as an act of revenge. The editors of the website note that Tilt did receive some support too, but not enough to win the award for the "Best British Radio Sketch Show".
