Thomas T. Matteson

Rear Admiral Thomas T. Matteson was appointed Superintendent of the United States Merchant Marine Academy
in the summer of 1993 and served in that position until his retirement in August 1998.

His first Coast Guard assignment was on the Cutter Castle Rock and subsequent assignments included postings at Coast Guard air stations in Miami, Port Angeles, Washington, and Puerto Rico, before being named chief of staff for the Eighth Coast Guard District, New Orleans. Matteson received a masters in management science from the Naval Postgraduate School
