After being praised for the strength of their album World Container, which sold over 200,000 copies in a relatively short amount of time, on February 23, 2008, The Tragically Hip returned to their hometown of Kingston, Ontario, where they were the first live act to perform at the new K-Rock Centre.

The Hip have recorded 15+ songs at The Bath House Recording Studio in Bath, Ontario for an upcoming album. Short videos showing the recording process of the new album have been posted at thehip.com, the newly re-launched official website of the band. A new live recording is also posted in the media player section of the frequently updated site. The new album is again produced by Bob Rock, will be released in North America on April 7, 2009. The album is titled 'We Are The Same'. The opening track, Morning Moon, is also currently streaming from thehip.com. The first single, Love is a First, debuted on radio and Itunes on Feb 27th. .

2009 North American TOUR


Tour dates (including five nights at Massey Hall) are posted on thehip.com and hipfans.com.

The live shows this year will follow the two-set format of Hip shows from the Music@Work tour of 2000. This tour will similarly be called "An Evening with The Tragically Hip," since the shows will consist of two sets of 13-14 songs, separated by a 20 minute intermission.
