The Globe of Science and Innovation is an admission-free exhibition area of CERN

. It is opened from Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 til 17:00.

There are six exhibition areas:

  6. Research Area

Purpose

On the official CERN website it states The Globe of Science and Innovation serves as:
  1. An emblem for CERN serving science and innovation

  3. The departure point for visits of the Laboratory
  4. At the heart of CERN's science in society project
  5. A Tourist Attraction

Dimensions

It is 27 meters high and 40 meters in diameter, which is roughly the size of the Dome of St. Peter's Basilica

Exhibitions

The Globe's only permanent exhibition as of September, 2010, is the 'Universe of Particles', situated on the ground floor.
