sites.

Advantages of Tegaderm include its breathability and conformation to the skin such that it adheres in places such as the fingers and toes.

Tegaderm can cause a severe inflammatory response: blistering, burning, itching (appears almost like a second degree chemical burn). This reaction may be exacerbated if the dressing is improperly stretched across the wound to enhance closure. Patients experiencing any of these reactions should report it immediately. The severe inflammatory response is usually caused by applying the tegaderm to the skin before allowing the alcohol or chlorhexidine to dry when used to cover catheter sites.
