History

TAMID was originally conceived by University of Michigan

students Sasha Gribov and Eitan Ingall. As freshmen in 2007, Gribov and Ingall began mulling over the idea of launching a student-led group that focuses on investing in Israel. Garrett Levenbrook soon joined in founding the group, and by 2008, they worked to build an executive board. By 2008, TAMID recruited its first ever membership class. During the 2009-2010 school year, the organization achieved a number of important goals: TAMID launched its investment fund, completed its first round of consulting projects, and organized its first Fellowship summer internship program.

In 2010, TAMID completed its first leadership transition. Brett Siegal assumed the position of Executive Director.

In 2011, TAMID restructured the organization of its executive board. The Executive Director position was divided into Executive Director of Business Development and Executive Director of Programming, currently held by Max Heller and Allison Berman respectively.

At this point, TAMID exists on its pilot campus at the University of Michigan and has also expanded to start chapters at Harvard University

Fund

Members raised money, and in 2010, TAMID launched an investment fund. Student teams meet each week to pitch stocks and to vote on whether a pitch is worthy of pursuing as an investment. The fund is intended to improve students' financial literacy and to give students a concrete way of supporting Israel.

Consulting

TAMID members break off into small consulting teams for Israeli start-up companies. Students work closely with companies in Israel to identify areas where student-consultants can add value, and spend an entire semester working at solutions to a company's needs.

Fellowship

Every year, TAMID sends a select few of its members to Israel for sponsored summer internships. TAMID provides job-placement, living arrangement, and a travel stipend. The Fellowship is the capstone of the TAMID experience, as fellows spend two months fully immersed in an Israeli businesses. Upon returning to school, TAMID expects that its fellows will be prepared for leadership positions in the organization. The 2011 TAMID Fellows are documenting the experience on blogs and Twitter
