Today, however, most conversions are carried out by connecting a laptop computer to the vehicle's diagnostic port and reprogramming the existing chip with one of a vast database of conversion programs, each produced for a specific make, model and ECU software reference.

Superchips Limited is frequently employed to provide technical consultancy by vehicle manufacturers as well as a large number of race and rally teams. The company also provides technical scrutineering services for race series around the world.

In 1992, Superchips Inc. was established in the USA, where the company provides conversions for all major makes of American car, as well as having a strong involvement in motorsport. Superchips Inc. was sold to MSD Ignition in 2005 .

Bluefin


A recent development from Superchips Limited is a hand-held, ‘DIY’ tuning kit called Bluefin, which allows owners to perform the conversion themselves, quickly and easily, to Superchips’ predetermined settings. Bluefin is available for an increasing range of vehicles, and various versions offer additional functionality including fault code reading, immobilisation and live data logging.
