"Still Tippin" is the first official single taken from the Mike Jones
' album Who Is Mike Jones?. The last verse was given to rapper Paul Wall
after a feud between Jones and fellow artist Chamillionaire
, resulting in Chamillionaire's departure from Swishahouse.
The beat, produced by Salih Williams, the chorus features a very slowed-down, hypnotic refrain from an older Swishahouse song of Slim Thug from year's past. In an interview with MTV
, Jones stated that the "tippin'" of the title is a synonym for "cruising
" (i.e. driving). He also added that the following lines refer to "the spokes that you see sticking out" wrapped in vogue tires, which he states "were made in 1984 by Cadillac and those were the most popular ones at the time": "Still tippin' on four 4's[rims], wrapped in four vouges [tires]".
The song featured an innovative video directed by Dr. Teeth who earned a Video Music Award nomination for his work. After the success of "Still Tippin'", Dr. Teeth's name became attached to some of the hottest videos of 2006 year, including Paul Wall's "Sittin' Sideways" and Mike Jones' "Back Then," among others. Dr. Teeth vision crafted the vision for the Houston explosion setting The career for Paul Wall Mike Jones & Slim Thug, but for those not familiar with the rising director, he has been putting in work in various places like BET and CBS, working behind-the-scenes for years.
