 in 1978 and 1979. Walters blocked for Eagles legends like Ron Jaworski, Wilbert Montgomery, and Harold Carmichael. He was always a fan favorite as a player and was known for his running battles with division foes like the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants.

After retiring from football in 1983, Walters worked as a radio color commentator

 for the Eagles from 1984 to 1997. There, he continued to be a special favorite of Eagles fans. Walters displayed his knowledge of the game and educated listeners while he called games. Fans got to hear an "insiders" perspective about important football subjects like: offensive blocking schemes, field position, and the effects of fatigue on the linemen.

In 1991 Walters was inducted in the Philadelphia Eagles Ring of Honor.
