History

The Foundation Stone for the Church was laid on July 22, 1905 by Samuel Forde Ridley, MP. The Church was designed by an Architect called Charles Henry Bourne Quennell, whose wife painted the pictures on the Pulpit in the Church. The builder was called Albert Monk, and the glazier, who put in the windows, was Paul Woodroffe. All this information can be found on the stone by the front door of the Main Church Building.

St. John's Church, N18 is in Edmonton, North London. St John's Church is within the Diocese of London and are under the Bishop of Edmonton, The Rt Revd Peter Wheatley. We practise the Anglo-Catholic within the Church of England but continue to affirm and acknowledge our Anglican Roots.

We share use of our church hall with the Hanlon Centre providing help and support to around 500 residents of the boroughs of Enfield and Haringey each week. Despite the closure of the Church Building, we still persisted to remain on that site and with the help of our recently appointed Priest Missioner - Fr Nigel Asbridge, we moved back into the Church in September 2010.

We are now looking to breath new life into our buildings to serve a growing population in Upper Edmonton and the new development at Meridian Water.

We are currently celebrating Mass in St John's Church every Sunday at 10am, every Tuesday at 9am in the Church and Thursday at 7pm in the Church aswell. We will occasionally hvave extra services during the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter.
