In early 2006, the hospital clashed with local residents over plans to create a small parking lot adjacent to the hospital. The lot was approved by the planning commission for Henrico County on March 9, 2006. As a condition of approval, Bon Secours committed to a permanent western boundary for the hospital property that constitutes the parking lot location on Maple Avenue.
