The trustees of the church were F.B. Gill, Revd. Henry Wright, Revd. J.A. Smith, Frederick Wright and Henry Ann Norman.

It was first opened in November 1877 to a design by Evans and Jolly. it was a daughter church to St. Ann's Church, Nottingham
